Sirumalai occupies sixty thousand acres (60,000 ac) of land placed 25 kilometers from Dindigul district and 90 kilometers from Madurai district, Tamilnadu (Capital is Chennai), India. It is a thick forest area with an unpretentious atmosphere all over the year. With a 1600m over the ocean level, you can enjoy various flora and fauna spices. The sirumalai hill contains 18 hairpin bends. Famous (HIS) Hillock International School (CBSE Stream) is in Sirumalai. The history and significance of Sirumalai go back to the old days. The people who are staying here from different tribes communicate in Tamil.

Annai Velankanni Church

The church is at top of the 18th bend. It is 2 kilometers from the closest bus station. People will celebrate the “Our Lady of Good Health” festival every year in September, with a flag raised before the function.

Sirumalai contains a small artificial lake. Boating is generally available in the lake during the week’s ends when there is sufficient water in it.

Observation Tower – Sirumalai Hills

Although there is limited places to visit in sirumalai hills, You can enjoy the view from Observation Tower, in the 17th hairpin bend. 

Vellimalai Murugan Temple

The well-known Lord Murugan temple called Vellimalai Murugan Temple is situated in the mountain, 45 minutes ascending over the valley. This temple is celebrated all through the neighboring towns and villages.

Khandige Estate – Sirumalai Hills

One of the best places to visit in Sirumalai is Khandige estate, spread across 1000 acres of land, is situated in the Sirumalai hills, an isolated gathering of pitches in the Dindigul region of Tamil Nadu evacuated by three waterways of which two are never-ending which flows through the Khandige estate before streaming into the fields as a progression of falls. This area gets an average of 120-132 cm rainfall during October and December. Encircled by around 20-30,000 Acres of wildlife reserve, this home has a characteristic abundance of greenery, mainly medicinal plants, which have been left unpolluted. The essential point of this home is to preserve the Eastern Ghats’ biodiversity and safeguard the devastation of this rich ecosystem because of wild deforestation.

Selvi Koil Point – Sirumalai

This place gives you a great view of Dindigul and Chinnamalai township. During sunset, the Selvi Koil Point shows the delightfully enlightened Dindigul and neighboring Chinnamalai city down under, which seem oval-shaped.

Agastya Puram

Agastya Puram is in Sirumalai Hills, named after the salient Agastya Siddhar, a revered Vedic sage of Hinduism. In Sirumalai, the Agasthiarpuram is a sacred spot where Siddhas (priests) have lived since prehistoric days. Medicinal spices and plants surround the zone. At the tip of the slope, the famous Shiva Lingam goes back about 500 years old.

Silver Hills in Sirumalai

Silver hill is the most prominent hill in Sirumalai, which is located in Agathiya Puram. A 500 Years Old Shiva Lingam is at the top of the slope. It is assumed that the apex of the Silver slope was made of Silver, the slope was changed through magic into the rock by the guru of all Agastya Siddhars. 

Sanjeevani Hills

According to the Hindu epic Ramayana, Lord Hanuman needed to look for specific herbs, and cannot find them, so he takes the whole pitch to treat Lord Laxmanan’s injury. On his way back from Sri Lanka with the slope, a piece slipped here, and it came to be known as Sanjeevani Hills.

Saathiyar Basin

Saathiyar River begins from Sirumalai hills and streams toward the south and discharges into the Vaigai River. The bowl covers a zone of 819 sq km. The entire ayacut of the sub-basin is 4,279.89 ha. Close by Vadipatti.

How to Reach Sirumalai 

The nearest airport is Madurai Airport, around 90 km away. The nearest railway station is Dindigul Junction, about 25 km away.  Sirumalai is very near to Dindigul and Madurai.
